Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

If anyone is experiencing excessive noise disturbance from the Adobe festival in Finsbury Park, suggest reporting it on Haringey's report it noise form - apparently they recognise there are growing no. of complaints from this area and are monitoring levels at the park.

Well they've got the description of the Woodstock Rd properties wrong. Most, if not all, the properties are HMOs and converted into flats and maisonettes of various designs. In mine I have the kitchen at the back and the living room at the front, (echo effect) plus one bedroom and the back and one at the front. My friend, a few doors down has her living room at the back and the bedroom at the front. They're all different.

The railway line behind me is just beginning to descend below our ground level so it's the roofs of the trains that I see and they can still be heard.

As for the sound monitoring, this is mostly done in the carpark on the corner. The trains here can't be seen at all as they're now below normal ground level and there's a large bushy bank above at the back of the carpark. You can still hear the trains but not as loud. The same can be said for the park noise there, it goes over your head. I doubt they'd get a true reading from there.

But these festival organizers are crafty. As the night goes on, the noise (music?) gets louder often ending with an even louder firework display. Pet owners beware.

Last year I videoed the end of one of the concerts as a train went by, two trains actually. One a slow local and one a fast express. Both were silent as neither could be heard above the jumble of sound coming from the park. Living here you get used to the sound of the trains but not to sudden bursts of unwanted noise that you can't escape from.

I was wondering where the noise was coming from. It's been going on all day and driving me mad. It's too much!!!

Just had someone called Dave ring me back from the council to insist the noise is within permitted levels and 'it's the wind' carrying it further. When I suggested drum'n'bass really wasn't suitable for a Sunday in a residential area he said that was yesterday's music and today is 'house and techno'. Well that's okay then...

Loud and clear (unfortunately) also on Lausanne. I would really like it to stop!

It’s been awful all weekend, I’m off St Ann’s Road by Chestnuts and it’s much louder here than all the other summer concerts.

Yes this does seem to be worse than the others. With the others you could hear a bit during the evening but it was tolerable. It shouldn't be too much to ask not to have this blasted into our homes

I think it's to do with the wind direction which seems to be blowing straight down Green Lanes

Fully agree. Had to move the kids into our bedroom as it was too loud for them despite windows closed . Totally unacceptable esp on a Sunday evening.

Councils Facebook Page stated they was aware of people views

Was wondering if there was other Music in other Parks ?

Dear All

First, apologies for not posting on this thread sooner. Following a call from a very - rightly - irate resident I contacted the on duty officer early on Sunday evening about the noise, and the difficulty of even reporting it. I wrote to the relevant officers who and have insisted on a meeting to review what happened and why. A senior officer called me to try to explain (I heard the wind theory too),but I am insisting on the meeting and am chasing this up. I copied in my fellow ward councillors in Harringay and Stroud Green councillors.

It’s a shame as although I’m a supporter of the festivals and I don’t mind the music, it does need better regulation. Carrying on until 10pm on a Sunday is unacceptable when people have got kids that need to get to bed. Hope the festivals get to continue but they have to stop at a reasonable hour on a Sunday at least.
