Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I have been having lots of network issues - pronounced by having to work from home - and I want to discover what is the best network performance in Harringay.

It turns out looking at signal bars displayed on phones, or coverage maps isn't very reliable at all. I'd like us to share what networks might be getting good connections in different locations around Harringay.

The best way to discover true network coverage is to use the Field Test Settings. Full info on how to do this at https://www.macworld.com/article/3346027/how-to-see-your-true-cellu... (There's Android option at https://www.ubersignal.com/field-test-mode)

We want to find the network and road with RSRP (Signal Strength) scores closest to -40 and RSRQ (Signal Quality) scores closest to -3.

My info is:

Mobile Network: 3

Road: Mattison Road, N4 1BD

Signal Strength:

rsrp0: -112 to -119

rsrp1: -114 to -119

Signal Quality:

rsrq0: -30

rsrq1: -32

As the article says, I'm on the "Bad" end of the scale for signal strength and my signal quality is so bad that it's off the article's scale.

also image below is location of phone masts. I notice 3 doesn’t have any locally, so I’d be interested to know the experience of people who are near their operator’s masts.

I'd appreciate any help you can offer in sending your scores. Thanks a lot.

(NB: I have seen numerous discussions re mobile coverage on this forum, but haven't quite seen an approach like the above, so hoping it may help.)

Interesting if there's sufficient comparative data.

My readings were as follows (well, I needed a displacement activity!).

Network: EE

Road: Hewitt

Signal Strength

rsrp0: -91 to -98

rsrp1: -94 to -104

Signal Quality

rsrq0: -16 to -22

rsrq1: -16 to -22

Signal to Noise Ratio

sinr0 : 2.0to 17.5

sinr1: -0.5 to 25.0

The article says:

Signal Strength

  • number closer to -40 is a really strong signal
  • number closer to -140 is a really poor signal
  • between -40 and -80 is very good
  • below -120 is very poor

Signal Quality

  • -3 (good)
  • -19.5 (bad).
  • It’s possible to have a lower number

This article presents similar data in a different format.

So that looks like I have Mid Cell or average signal strength and ditto quality.  The noise ratio readings vary so much, I wonder how useful they are.

Network - Vodaphone

Road - Warham

Signal strength

Rsrp0 -97 to -104

Rsrp1 -106

Signal Quality

rsrq0  -32 to -34

rsrq1 -32 to-34
