Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

For some time I've wondered how many CPZ permits were issued to residents in my road and sometime ago I asked the question but never received a response.

However after contacting the Traffic Orders about the latest proposed changes I included the fact that I'd never had an answer and they choose to ask for a FOI for me for the information, most kind!

I had a response on 6/4 telling me that there are been 35 issued in my Road and 17 in the adjoining Road - the Road at the other end is in a different CPZ.

The interesting fact about this is that  there are only 34 parking spaces in my Road (87 addresses) so not even room for all those with permits let alone what happens if there are any Blue Badges or temporary Permits parking which are both a regular occurrence.

Outside the CPZ hours numerous vehicles without permits park making the situation even worse.

The crazy thing is that the next Road which is in the next CPZ was only made a CPZ Road a couple of years ago and there were lots of complaints that it was added to the wrong CPZ as lots of residents in our Road used it as an overflow and it wasn't needed by residents in it as they all had estate parking. Indeed it took a few weeks and a few parking tickets for not having the right CPZ permit for people to realise it was in a different CPZ.

Despite the complaints and requests for them to reconsider it was ignored prompting a painting protest (signs being sprayed over so tickets being enforced could rightfully be appealed) but to no avail.

The good news is that thanks to me raising this issue via the FOI they are now considering my suggestion that part of the adjoining road is reclassified into our CPZ.  I'm not holding my breath but fingers are crossed.

I guess the point of this post is to say no matter how long it takes, keep trying as sometimes it might just happen!

I am sure that in some parts of the CPZ's that more permits have been issued to spaces

Not forgetting that some households have more than one vehicle

Advised one of the reasons that they do not enforce inner and outer Wood Green

As many have to park away from their homes
