Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

It seems that more and more urban dwellers are adopting foxes as pets, even going as far as giving them medicine for mange and letting them into the house. Read all about it in this article

Anyone got a 'pet fox' story to share?

I've not seen the local fox for a while now but apparently there are a number next door (probably to emerge with cubs in a few months). I remember a number of years ago in Finsbury Park there was an 'unusual' gentleman who used to take 'his' fox on the tube with him (on a lead), which used to turn a few heads.
Really! Must have had it since it was young. They are beautiful animals.
Insane. Anyone want mine?
Chuck them down here Alison, I love the bleaders. I saw some in sorrow states when I use to go hunt sabbing twenty odd years ago so have a soft spot for them - until they game my dogs the biggest "hardnut Harringay" fleas in about fifteen seconds of contact.
What's not to like about Mr Fox? We've got an earth in a neighbour's garden. We sometimes see them jumping over the fence and wandering up the passage. I took this photo through the back door recently. The little blighter was sunbathing in the border.

Now if we could attract badgers I'd be impressed....

Nice photo Paul. I agree it's fantastic to have the countryside moving into our urban areas. Their migratory routes probably being the railway tracks, amongst other routes. It's a Watership Down effect of agricultural policy over the last few decades (chemicals and big fields involving reduced woodland and hedge rows) plus effects of hunting of course. Badgers, now that would be interesting but they don't travel so easily as the nimble fox!
I know Matt. I'm originally from very rural Shropshire where we get badgers, foxes and the odd cow wandering over the lawn to eat plums and damsons (*sighs and reaches for A E Housman...*). I think that as long as we're prepared to intensively steal their homes and buy factory-farmed produce then the least we can do is let them have the odd jam butty every now and again.
Weirdly enough most of the sabbing I did was in rural Shropshire; Stiperstones and up towards the Welsh border way. My old man still lives in Shropshire, beautiful part of the country.
Yes, it's gorgeous - I'm from 3 miles inside the English border north of Wem (of no interest to anyone I realise).
I know, they are beautiful things and if only they didn't dig huge holes in my flower beds (really huge) I would just love them too ..
And let's not forget Hugh's pond wars with Mr Fox!
I have an old greying fox which loves to snooze in the tangle in my back garden and surveying his kingdom from my garden table
Oooooh when I was on the 29 on the way to manor house station I saw a fox actually frolicking in the gardens of the estate just before the station. So cute!
