Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

As an OAP and a regular customer of the Sunshine Garden Centre I have to report an especially excellent experience.  Last week, I was advised that if I left a voice message on their telephone line requesting a delivery, they would call me when they were ready and able to oblige.  I called on Thursday afternoon and they sent an e-mail saying they couldn't deal with it that day but they wouldn't forget to call back soon.

This morning (Monday) a helpful sales assistant called at 8.40am (while I was drinking tea in bed) and took my order as she went round the garden centre with a trolley.  She left the trolley at the check-out where they arranged a delivery later today and took payment over the phone.  The transaction was completed and a the receipt e-mailed to me at 9.05.  The van showed up at 10.50 and all I had to do was take the stuff into the garden.

The only downside of this was I didn't get to walk round the centre myself which I usually do after visiting their cafe for a cup of tea and bacon sandwich.  Sadly, the delivery service doesn't run to this although, the Sunshine Garden Centre is so good that it wouldn't surprise me to hear that they have found a way of doing so.

Good to hear, Thanks for sharing, DIck.

That's excellent. Do you mean the one one in Bounds Green?

Yes.  The one in Durnsford Road.

I was looking to make an order last night and found they have changed their delivery service due to unsustainable demand.

I do know someone who is organising a delivery for street group but I can't say that I have heard yet of its success.  Knowing Sunshine, they will find a way of making it work.  Maybe my own treatment was because I have been a customer before (although not for deliveries) and because they know I am over 60.

I began simply by sending an e-mail to their published address and followed the guidance given in their reply.

Our street has banded together for group deliveries of flour and bread from dustyknuckle.com. It makes logistical sense and its something we should think of continuing in the future - a vast amount of London traffic comes from individual delivery vans duplicating the same routes.

Love the idea. Will love to see it spreading.

Sunshine Garden Centre is fantastic in normal times. Great to hear about its customer service is stepping up in these times. It will have my continued custom as long as I can afford it. Enjoy gardening.
