Birthed from London’s bubbling jazz scene, sonic explorers Native Dancer will perform a show dedicated to one of their biggest influences; revolutionary jazz fusion outfit Weather Report.

Veering from avant-garde to more funk and r&b sounds and then to world music, no genre was too far removed from jazz for Weather Report. With a star studded line up that over the years included Joe Zawinul, Wayne Shorter, Jaco Pastorius and Airto Moreira, they outlasted their contemporaries the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Return to Forever, and Headhunters.

Native Dancer’s own sound universe trades in a similar stock, fusing the boundaries of acoustic instruments, synthesizers and samples with elements of pop, soul, funk, jazz and rock. As well as reinterpreting some of the 20th century’s most beloved jazz standards on the night, the second half of the show will be dedicated to performing their own original material.
