Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

LAST month I attended the British Inventions Show.

The stand-out product was the stand by the entrance.

It took me about one second to sense that this was a good idea.

I met the inventor, Jeff Wolf OBE, who explained his head was saved by a regular helmet ... yet few cyclists trouble to wear them. It set him thinking:

Conforms to CE EN1078:2012+A1:2012

During the long, delayed development and testing, the meeting of international standards were the most important goals of all. I think inventor Jeff Woolf was holding his breath during these tests.

For convenience, I think I'll leave it latched at home and only unlatch it at the 'other end'. When it's unlatched and folded, it's remarkably thin, reducing considerably the otherwise bulk.

It is a clever design. The outer dimensions of the box it came in, are: 8 x 25 x 30 cm.

To help illustrate what has been achieved: it folds to about three inches thick and when folded, the two sides are clasped together by little magnets.

It's also suitable for skateboarders or roller skaters.

Photos in due course!

Thanks Clive, you are entirely correct. The helmet conforms to CE standards (CE EN1078:2012+A1:2012) as such, is CE marked, just like any other helmet on the market. This certification is obviously obtained via independent official testing facilities. In this case SGS (the largest testing company in the world, I believe) issued the certification.

Best regards

Jeff Woolf (Inventor)

That's great to hear, thanks for sharing that. I hope you have years of safe and happy cycling with the Morpher helmet.

Thanks

Jeff, it was a wait, but worth it. Thanks for the updates during the long, frustrating development process. I expect you've learnt many things along the way!

Whoa! 450 euros is hugely expensive. For £50 you can get a full face motorcycle crash helmet which has the added benefit of protecting your face and even more importantly your teeth. My sister in law had a £5,000 bill for replacing her front teeth when she was knocked off her bike.

Antoinette, where does this figure of 450 euros come from please?

That's what Alex posted further up the post thread.. page 2 I think... why, how much is it?

No, that's the hovding, an inflatable airbag helmet. Some members deleted posts from the thread so it doesn't make sense now.

Hi Antoinette

It's not (nor has ever been) 450 Euros!! It is available right now on Indiegogo for $113 (£80). I am not entirely sure what the eventual UK retail price will be as that will be up to the bike retailers etc but I am hoping it will be in the £80 to £90 range.

I think that because of it's folding capability and thus its portability and convenience, it represents great value.

Jeff (Inventor of Morpher)

Website suggests $151 retail.

There doesn't seem to be anything in the way of dimensions on the website which is curious.
