Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I live on the ladder and thought that the rubbish in the black bins was due to be collected on the 25th Jan last week. They were not collected but I'm not sure if they should have been or I've got my weeks mixed up !
Anyone know ?

This should see you right. You can even print off your own personalised collections calendar, should you be so moved!

The "Collection Day Finder" on Veolia's website is simple and very useful. I don't know the current rate of 'churn' of households, but in the past it was surprisingly high. Not everyone who moves into the borough will understand the system. Or appreciate a range of stuff is collected from homes for free.
I think one of Haringey's biggest waste problems may be the tacit custom-and-practice of leaving stuff on the street - because that's what so many other people seem to do.
I called it "The Third System". When Veolia first came to Haringey they said they aimed to change this behaviour. Not least for the excellent reason that constant pick-ups from the streets was very costly. At least in my Tottenham neighbourhood it seems the Third System is even more entrenched.
In the past I suggested that Haringey should link-up with local estate agents to provide a leaflet about waste collection arrangements for inclusion in any information pack they provide to new buyers or renters.
I've also proposed that the huge panels on the sides of Veolia waste trucks could display such practical information.
I've wondered whether local councils and their contractors elsewhere have experimented in this way. If in future someone spots a good idea in another place, can I suggest a quick photo on your mobile posted on HoL and maybe passed to the "Cabinet" councillor.
