I was delighted to have played a part in organising the successful EE Techy Tea Party last Tuesday at the EE store on Wood Green High Street.
Having been encouraged to bring along their mobile phones, tablets and laptops some 18 older adults came along to learn more about their devices. EE staff were on hand to help them get to grips with everyday technology as well as teaching basic online skills.
The stand out moment for me was when a member of staff took time to help a visitor increase the number of rings from two to ten on her mobile. You can imagine her delight as until that moment she had continuously missed calls. A real 'eureka' moment!
We know a lot of people find today’s technology baffling so Age UK Haringey partnered with EE to show older adults how technology can help you stay in touch with friends and family, make the most of hobbies and interests like travel and access important services like utility companies without having to waste time on the phone.
A big thanks to David and his staff at the EE store.
