These photos are excellent. In the middle of this photo is what is now called  North Harringay Primary school. Part of a 1894 outline plan includes a hall or halls as they are now. Thing is the halls are more 1930s in style so assumed the plan in 1894 didn't go ahead for whatever reason.

 

My other theory was they might have been built in 1894 but damaged in WWII possibly by the V1 bomb top of Falkland Rd, where Fairland Park is now. Some damage was recorded by the head teacher at the time but I've never found any evidence of anything extensive.

 

Well, for the first time ever I now have evidence from this photo that the halls indeed were never built in the 1890s as planned. There's a funny little building in the photo facing Falkland Rd. The school once had its entrance to Frobisher Rd.

Thanks for posting these photos - they are fascinating!

The rectangles in the foreground were presumably allotments. I wonder if anyone can confirm this or otherwise explain what they were. The ground is sloping and facing east so it wouldn't have been an ideal position for growing most things.

The allotments? look too large for allotments? could they be market gardens? the ground is flat & now occupied by the Cranford Way Industrial estate? Part of Rathcoole Gdns housing is bottom left. I have spent ages trying to work out what the massive new? building complex is in the centre right of the photo, with large roofs. It must be off West Green Rd ? Ducketts Common is easy to identify above the N Harringay school
