Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

This picture was discovered as a result of a consortium bidding for a historic map of Harringay. The shop was owned by the family of the map's seller.

The picture shows butcher John Owen Hunt on the right and his assistant, Ernie on the left.

Here's the view looking north from just outside the butcher's shop.

If you take a look at the same premises now, you can still see the cows heads

I wonder if john is related to me!!
I'll have to get out the old sepia photo album and have a look. Not beyond the realms of possibility.. My family has history in the mussie Hill area and beyond .

....and I just stumbled across this from the  London Evening Standard of 11 June 1904. This may well have been the point at which Val's family bought the house at 16 Wightman:
