Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

One of my frequent bugbears with London is the lack of ice cream parlours, so I am delighted to have one on my doorstep, and it's a good one to boot! I have already been a couple of times and can confirm that the pistachio kulfi, salted caramel, hazelnut, capuccino and raspberry ripple flavours are all delicious and the scoops are generous. Prices are very reasonable and service comes with a smile. They also have a range of tasty-looking cheesecakes and do crepes.

Please do give it a try! It's on Green Lanes near the Salisbury.

Great name
Believe it or not, but Harringay had an " Ice Cream Parlour " in the late 40, it was opposite Harringay Areana !!!!!! It was a a hang out place for the local teenagers. But tragedy struck on one evening, the place blew up due to a gas leak. I had a good friend of mine who was in there that night and finished up in Hospital for 3 months, with one leg being shorter than the other. His name was Terry Blackwell, for anyone who remembers that Night ???????
I'm amazed you can remember details of names that far back. Got any pictures ?
Thanks for your reply, Finsbury Park Ranger. Sorry I don't have any photos of Harringay at that period, I was just a young scruffy urchin from a large family, so no money for photos, my mum was flat out feeding us. My memory of the people and events around Harringay, is still pretty good, because I had some great times there, and the fact that we all went through the War together, with out a scratch, and then the Ice Cream Parlour blowing up!!!!!!! Finsbury Park was one of my Favourite places , spent many a long hour kicking a football around, also in those days it was Park Keeper, not Park Ranger, which is I feel a better name.
I'm not a real keeper or a ranger, it's just an Internet nick name. In my day (80's) we used to call the job 'parky'. The war photographer Don McCullen used to say Finsbury Park was the roughest part of London once upon a time, did you feel that then ?
Not actually Finsbury Park its self, but the Area around there towards Holloway. It was a very poor district and very rough, you were ok to walk through the streets as long as you knew someone there. One of my mates Frank Scarfe, had relatives living there. I could go on and on but enough is enough !!!!! Regarding your name Park Ranger, quite a good handle for young buck of the day ha!ha! Stay luck and safe.
Thanks and you !
