Bruce Castle Museum awarded Royal Society grant to celebrate Tottenham scientist John Eliot Howard

Bruce Castle Museum have been awarded a small grant by The Royal Society to have a hands-on science educational project and exhibition at the museum about John Eliot Howard FRS (1807-1883), the discoverer of the properties of quinine against malaria.

He lived at Lordsmead House (now the site of Lordsmead Road, Tottenham) and was the son of Luke Howard FRS, the Father of Meteorology.

This is lovely news as the project was one of only 16 selected from museums, galleries and archives throughout the UK.

The exhibition will take place from May 2017.
