Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

LAST CHANCE TO RESPOND TO CPZ CONSULTATION

Haringey Council is currently reviewing the CPZs in Bruce Grove (BRG2) and Tottenham Hale (TH2). The consultation finishes on the 20th November next so there is not much time left to respond. It is vital that as many residents as possible give feedback.

Not everyone has the same requirements;
- Residents who don’t have a CPZ or problems with parking in their street do not want to see one introduced.
- those streets next to CPZs where residents have difficulty finding a space to park next to their home may want one.
- those in the CPZ find the hours restrictive and that they penalise friends and family who want stay over and/or visit during weekdays and on Saturdays.
- most pepole don't want the CPZ to be a money making scheme.

There are several issues to consider when responding to the consultation:

  • New residential towers and homes planned for Tottenham and the big increase in the number of residents will put more parking pressure on those streets without controls.
  • Improvements to Overground suburban train services through Tottenham will bring more commuters (workers and shoppers) looking to park close to stations (Bruce Grove/White Hart Lane/Seven Sisters) and travel into the central London Congestion Charge Zone on the trains.
  • The doubling of the size of the new Hotspurs football stadium will mean far more fans looking to park in Tottenham’s streets  on match days.
  • Some BG streets around the Tottenham bus garage have, in the past, faced parking problems from bus drivers on shift work.
  • But did you know that there are quite a few Haringey CPZs where the parking hours are far less restrictive than those of the BRG2. e.g. Crouch End = Mon-Fri 10am to 12 noon. Hornsey South = Monday to Friday 11am to 1pm. Highgate = 10am to 12 noon. Fortis Green = Mon to Fri: 11am to 1pm. Bounds Green = Monday to Friday 10am to 12noon
  • The CPZ questionnaire makes no provision for on-street bike parking sheds.

If you can, please speak to as many of your (Bruce Grove) neighbours as possible and ask them to respond to the consultation ASAP. Why not put it on your Facebook. If you/they have not received the questionnaire and info pack in the post box you can go online to Haringey Council website and provide your feedback there. It is not long and quite easy to do.

Thanks for reading.
