Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Nothing of earth-shattering importance here, just idle curiosity. Walking along Green Lanes the

The other day, just north of the junction with West Green Road, I noticed a series of bollards tight up against the walls to the properties opposite Duckett's Common. Normally you'd expect to see bollards of this type at the kerbside, keeping traffic off the pavement. Why are they positioned where they are? I wonder what purpose they serve?

Probably installed by these chaps

No, I get why they did this this. I imagine the space had been used for off-street parking. The bollards prevent that. What do the Duckett's Green bollards do?

I think John's point is probably that they've blocked themselves in ...

No idea about the other bollards. Presume it's not possible that the wall next to them has been moved forward at some point??

Doh! Oh, that's funny.

I have seen the council put bollards like these right up against someone's drive if they have not paid to have a lowered curb to prevent them from using the drive until they pay for a lowered curb. Have seen it done to 2 separate properties all I can think is maybe this place had a drive then put a wall in maybe ?

That's four big Fat HoL points, Tina. I just checked on Street View history and this is what I saw.

Blimey I feel chuffed I have such useless knowledge that really does come in handy t some point I will take those points thank you kindly :-)
Hugh, after Tina's Trojan effort perhaps a system of honouring contributions is not so daft? Can I suggest Bronze Silver and Gold 'Rungs on the Ladder' ?

Thanks Philip. It's a good idea I'll give it some thought.

Keep those complements coming I have never felt so clever !
