Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Just a heads up - I live in a block of flats on Wightman Rd. As I came home about 4.30 pm, a man followed me in through the front door and went up the stairs ahead of me. I followed him right up to the top and there was a muttered imprecation. He told me that  " they " were doing work on the roof and apologised for any noise. His colleague ( companion in crime ? )  came down a few minutes later and asked if he could check for any damp penetration. He said they had been instructed by " Eric ". and left.

I checked with the managing agents who denied any knowledge of them or of any problem with the roof. I thought it was suspicious too that they didn't seem to have any tools.  When I went to look for them they had disappeared.

The point of this exciting story is that I think they were looking for unsecured flat doors with a view to opportunistic theft. They might try you next. Ask for ID.

Good you followed up. I know an older person over the road from us was robbed by two people who pretended to be from the Water Company - one went in 'to check' something while the other kept up a conversation by the door. Horrible opportunistic behaviour.
