I saw this article about the development of City Airport earlier, and there are a few great pics in there, its amazing to see the old docs!

I have one of The 'Docks' tram terminal  on Connaught Road in 1937.

London Tranport 246, built 1904 and originally a West Ham Corporation Car. Scrapped at Walthamstow Depot October 1937. Route 87 worked up through Forest Gate and Wanstead Flats to Leytonstone, Walthamstow, Chingford. The dock workers are waiting for a 97 or 99 tram which worked via Greengate or Abbey Arms and Stratford to Chingford.

It was possible to get a direct bus from Harringay (Turnpike Lane) to this point from 1962 until 1968, as route 41 ran from Highgate Archway to Victoria & Albert Docks.  From 1968 until this was replaced by a route 241 from Manor House to the Docks.. Seen here at Seven Sisters Station in 1973:
