Council Scrutiny Work Programme Consultation 2015/16

The Council's Overview and Scrutiny Committee helps to ensure that local services are delivered effectively and efficiently and in the best interests of the local community. 

Residents are being invited to propose subjects for investigation in the coming year. There is an online survey for you to add your proposals for future scrutiny. For example, some themes that the Scrutiny Committee could investigate might be:

• long term affect on various departments of loss of experienced staff / chronic understaffing  e.g. parks, benefits dept, planning enforcement
• long term implications of the policy of selling off Council assets (land, buildings, services)
• Council housing - the need to protect and expand its provision, rather than demolitions and 'redevelopment'
• Managing, improving and promoting Haringey's water features and waterways (over and under ground)..
• Consultation methods - how to ensure that the policies, tactics and strategies genuinely promote empowerment of Haringey's communities
• How the Council can work with the community to defend public services, including non-statutory services, by lobbying and taking effective action against Central Government
