Funny how different people hear different things.

Whether or not you agree with them, Ball made some valid points and certainly wasn't " shot down ".

No one has shot down Mr. Ball. The notion that a single, poorly-sited outlet that may sell marginally healthier product, will somehow move the needle of public health in Tottenham, by the slightest degree, is of course, ludicrous.

Was the restaurant truly the best use of what has casually been described as "the riot money" ?

And what chance of the (very) soft loan being repaid into public funds?

And what about the jobs, the training opportunities, the providing somewhere to eat

What are needed are real jobs and real profits. I'm a fan of apprenticeships, but training opportunities could exist in enterprises other than a restaurant of which there exist many already.

There are many places to eat, but the private sector is already capable of providing them, normally chosen at locations where commercial acumen has been involved. Except for charity situations, I cannot see a need for the Local Authority to be involved in "providing somewhere to eat".
