Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Our youngest is 2 months old, and is due for her 8-week immunisation. We/she is registered at the Heron Practice on Green Lanes (just south of Manor House). For the last few weeks we've been repeatedly told by them that they have a "technical problem" with their system and can't make an appointment for her, can we call back at the end of the week. Furthermore, they are short-staffed and don't have an available nurse.

Do any parents know if Haringey offer drop-in baby immunisation clinics, without needing to register? I think I dimly remember our health visitor or community midwife mentioning something like that?

My son is 12 now but we used to go to Tynemouth Rd Health Centre for that sort of thing. You didn't have to be registered there for that. It is a while ago though.

Admittedly my babies are now at secondary school but I have a feeling the answer is no; I think the amount and type of vaccinations need to be ordered , stored correctly and batch numbers recorded according to the age of the babies/children, hence the appointment system.  I don't think a few weeks delay is a problem for your baby's health unless you are going abroad soon but I appreciate you want to get it done asap - it's definitely one of those cruel to be kind moments!

Best ask the HV or midwife.

Hi, definitely give your health visitor a call & explain what's happened, hopefully they'll have some suggestions. Really sorry to hear you've had such a bad experience for such an important health issue. Let us know what happens.
