Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
Durazzo Italian Restaurant
As per here.
Went to Durazzo, in between Falkland and Frobisher, today as we saw it when we walked to TPL tube earlier and decided to try it out as I've been hoping for more breadth of establishments opening up this end of Green Lanes.
Very well presented inside, very attentive staff and honest prices. Chef came over and introduced himself to us and he is indeed Albanian, however said that he and his business partner worked for some years in a true bred Italian restaurant. They have been open for four days.
Food is good, nothing to set the world on fire. Tasty and substantial and great as an alternative place to eat on a weekday. Prices are approx £6-7 for Pasta, £7-8 for Pizza (large) and £9-10 for Entrees.
The chef gave us a menu so we can order and stroll down the road to pickup, which is something we will do if we want takeaway Pizza to support the place.
Free Amaretto always helps

Would like to second Si's thumbs up for Durazzo.
Found our way there walking back from Wood Green with two hungry tired kids and we all soon felt better after a couple of draft Peroni and some delicious breads (one tomato and one cheese). Olives were brought for free and they suggested that the kids order from the cheaper lunch menu, as we had come in just before 5 and the kids were having soft drinks.
We opted for pastas which were as substantial and tasty as Si said
Kids had small dishes of ice cream while we had espressos. Bill came to £46 with drinks. The welcome was warm and attentive and we appreciated the free fruit plate at the end of the meal.
I'd urge people to try it out. We'll be going back to try the pizzas

Don't want to judge because I haven't been to this place, but as an Italian expat I am constantly astounded by how much restaurants in London charge for a plate of pasta. The dish Liz posted looks like the dinner I make when my fridge is empty (and I am sure it doesn't cost £6 to make!).
Anyway, given the lack of pizza places around here I might give it a try (just for the pizza!), as it is also true that nowadays most pizza chefs in Italy are either Albanian or North African (mainly Egyptian)!

is it the same Fabrizio that is (was?) on Highgate Hill? one of the best pizza in London, especially the "al metro" one!

Well yes, pasta dishes are very simple to make by and large and ingredients are not expensive. I expect I too could have gone home and created a large plate of penne something or other for a quid with the contents of my fridge but when a new business is making a effort to create a pleasant, friendly environment in a city that as Phil says has eye-wateringly high overheads, I think we owe these enterprising souls our custom as their presence makes for a pleasant high street. There's always a lot of talk on here about lack of choice about restaurants so anyone offering a change is always welcome.

I had a takeway pizza from Durazzo last night and it was really good, and they gave me a free glass of wine while i waited for it to be made. A margarita pizza there is only £5:90 and would easily feed two or three children, making quite an economical meal.
We're going back tonight for dinner there.

Liz I second your point entirely, and I said I will try this new place as I agree new ventures like this do need support! I just won't be ordering the pasta as I don't think it's good value for money, that's all. Margherita at £5.90 is definitely worth a try though!

We popped in here last night. Nice little place - simple food, but very well put together, and good value. We had a pizza and the vongole (clam) linguine, and both were exellent. They're very friendly, and the chef came over for a chat with us after the meal.
It's just the sort of place we need, so go and support them!

We went here this afternoon. Staff were attentative without being too pushy. Tasty pizza, and also tried the vongole on Alex's recommendation - lovely. Great choice if you fancy a change from Turkish food.
