Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

FAIR FUNDING FOR ALL SCHOOLS PLANNING MEETING – THURSDAY 27 APRIL, 7.30PM, GREIG CITY ACADEMY, HIGH STREET, LONDON N8 7NU

Message from the campaign team: Thank you for all your fantastic support for the Fair Funding for All Schools (FFAS) campaign in Haringey. Since our campaign got going in January we have had three huge public meetings – at Rhodes Avenue and Coleridge Primary Schools and at Park View Secondary School. We also had a fantastic Day of Action when we ran six stalls across the Borough where supporters signed postcards calling on the Secretary of State for Education to fulfil the Conservative Government’s manifesto pledge to protect school funding and seeking a guarantee that no school should lose money as a result of the proposed new national funding formula (NFF). In addition, hundreds of supporters responded to the Government consultation on the NFF before the deadline last week (22 March). The pressure on the Government is building and this week saw the Public Accounts Committee publish a report saying that school funding cuts threaten to undermine the quality of education, putting children’s academic progress at risk. We are not prepared to allow this to happen. We are now ready to plan the next stage of our campaign in Haringey. We would like to invite you to a meeting on Thursday 27 April at 7.30pm at Greig City Academy, High Street, Hornsey, London, N8 7NU. We want to ensure that there are representatives of parents/carers from all of Haringey’s schools. We have a number of ideas for keeping up the pressure over the coming months including playground activities, further days of action and a family march and picnic. We are sure you will come along with other great ideas as well. This will be a working meeting where we will ask you to put your heads together with campaigners from neighbouring schools so we can come up with an action plan for the summer term. There will be a collection at the meeting to cover the cost of the venue hire.
