Anyone know why on earth the post box is only emptied once a day now? Are we living in London or the sticks?

Post has been collected once a day from that post box for quite a while now.
And I don't really understand your London vs the 'sticks' comment.

Cling on to that vestige as long as you can. The Hewitt Road one was suddenly removed about a decade ago with some nonsense excuse about it being difficult to collect from.

I don't use it very often but it's generally pretty full. And for those that don't know, the box is emptied after 9am on weekdays which means you have to post your letter/card/whatever either the night before or in the morning if you want it to arrive the next day. So much for a first class stamp!
