Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The Finsbury Park Sports Partnership has just announced that they have secured all the necessary funding to commence the refurbishment of the athletics track located in the heart of Finsbury Park.

The Partnership has raised nearly a £1M from various sources including the London Marathon Charitable Trust, Haringey Council, Sport England and the Mayor of London to progress this long desired improvement to Finsbury Park.

Works include installation of a new track, refurbished infield, new floodlights, new athletics equipment and new carriageway lighting to the facility. The project will begin this week with tree works along the boundary with the Bowls Club to prepare the facility for the main works which are likely to start in the winter.

The project should be completed by the summer of 2016. Once completed the facility will be reopened with certain times dedicated to casual community use.

The Partnership say that they will be working to minimise any disruption and keep people informed as details become confirmed.

This is good news. The track is a fantastic resource and was looking worse for wear. Well done to the Partnership.

I happened to notice it was used for the "winners' treat" scene in the Apprentice that aired this week. The treat was a training session with Mo Farah. So it's hallowed ground now!

Hopefully hallowed though soon to be hollowed Hugh
Whoops. Thank you.

SOME photos of Mo there, here:

I noticed that. Not sure being made to run around Finsbury Park running track (even in the company of Mo) constitutes a 'treat'.....
