Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Could there be a blockage in a main rainwater drain ?

It has rained a bit, but hardly monsoon level - yesterday was just drizzle - yet several streets are flooded this morning. The swimming pool on Hampden Rd is back

there are lakes at the corner of Willoughby and Turnpike, at the bottom of Middle Lane

and you need wellies to board a bus outside Shopping City.

Perhaps the banner on the bridge shouid read  " Harringay - Venice of the North "

This is extremely helpful, John, especially as the photos show the extent of the problems at each location. If you've already reported these to the Council, I'd appreciate copies of the email acknowledgements. (alan.stanton@virgin.net)

I've also been following-up a larger issue. Which is the need for cross-department cross-agency reporting arrangements, so that ideally there would be prompt reports as soon as these problems become visible. People doing the reporting need not necessarily be Council or Veolia staff. Those first spotting the problem are just as likely to be staff of nearby shops; or bus or tube workers; or of course members of the public.

Cllr David Schmitz was chasing the Hampden Road "pool" problem. I hope he's had a clear and accurate response by now. This has been recurring too often and for too long. It needs effective collaboration between the various landowners involved, with a lasting "upstream" solution.

(Tottenham Hale ward councillor)

I think Hampden Road is a major problem.  Not that long ago they were pumping out the drains for days on end, but the problem was only temporarily resolved
