Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I used to live at 42 Hewitt Road and I remember when I moved in (2002) the person before me (Margot) had left a file of stuff about the house there.

I recently found the file and wondered if there was anyone on the Ladder who would be interested in it.

It has some interesting documents like the original deeds of the builders of the house in 1896 and various bills of sale from the early 20th Century and mortgage documents...

Anyway, the documents are all at my office in Farringdon and if anyone wants them can they email andrew@pukkafilms.com and arrange to pick them up...

Hi Andrew. Yes please! Looking forward to seeing the film btw.
Hi Andrew,
We live at 42 now and would love the documents! I'll email you.
Cheers,
Becky

Andrew/Becky, If most of the documents are relating to no. 42, very happy for those to end up with Becky, (it would be nice to think that the documents would be seen as being held in trust by the current owner and would pass down to all subsequent owners of the house too). However, I'd still be interested in perhaps seeing the whole stash first with the aim of sharing it more widely with the local population as I do with any historical find. I could then pass all the 42 relevant stuff on to Becky.

How does that sound guys?

That sounds fine Hugh. Give me a shout when you've finished with them.

Gosh, this takes me down memory lane....  Some years ago when I was teenager, living with my parents in Mansfield Ave in Tottenham, my father used to own and rent a property in Hewitt Road. I would either go with Mum or Dad, to the particular house, every Friday, to collect the rent.  Afraid I can't remember the house number.
