History of Hornsey
Hi, I've lived in Hornsey for some time now and have decided to do a series of research into Hornsey and especially the town hall. I would love to hear any stories, memories, anecdotes from the people of Harringay, whether its historical, personal experiences or just opinions on the future of the town hall. I have a DVD called " Hornsey Yesterday and Today ( 1291 till 2005 ) ". 2 hours running time. You're welcome to it if you think it would help.

Hi Heather - after years pursuing a strong interest in the place (posting on HoL for instance) , I created a Facebook group for those interested in Hornsey Town Hall last year. Keen to assemble as many views and opinions as possible, particularly oral history - you might want to post there. One recent post quotes local lad Ray Davies (who has plenty of memories of the place, regarding it as the 'ideal venue') reminiscing about hiring the Rolling Stones for £50 and saying he'd like to reform the Kinks to play at HTH again one last time...
I've collected what I can and you're welcome to anything I've done - here's a list of events from the beginning in 1936 that I'd like to expand so as to have a peg to hang people's memories on. You'll see that a few people who do remember HTH responding to the original post. I've collected a few more and will get round to publishing them. Hornsey College of Art, for example, was a revolutionary place just up the road in the late 1960's (when HTH stopped being a Town Hall) and there are still people around who remember going to HTH events I'd like to contact and record their memories.
