And excellent double bill at The Salisbury on Sunday night as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival
GUFO is the collectively led trio of
Dave De Rose - drums/vocals
Ruth Goller - ukulele-bass/vocals
Dario Rossetti-Bonell - guitar/mandolin.
They have played together in many different bands and various combinations over the years, but it is here in GUFO that they have established their collective voice, with a unique sounding set of music. All established in their own way, (with playing credits ranging from Rokia Traore to Acoustic Ladyland to Moloko), and each emerging from various musical influences from around the world; here they produce their own original sound and find a unique common ground - a crossover of improvised, song-oriented acoustic sound with strong melodies.
The Lukas Oravec Quartet was founded in early 2012. It's quality immediately struck jazz enthusiasts. The band has played many club gigs and appeared at many festivals throughout Europe: Berlin, Brno, Prague, Trutnov, Paris and embarked on a uk wide tour earlier in the year. The quartet won the top prize of "Young Faces of Slovak Jazz " and the quartet leader has won a "prize for interpretive performance". Their debut album Introducing Lukas Oravec Quartet was released in 2013 and won prize ESPRIT 2013 for best Slovak album of the year. Lukas Oravec Quartet will introduce original music of bandleader and new album LOQ feat. Vincent Herring called Piotrology. On the new album you can find compositions of different kind of styles from sophisticated mainstream to energetic neo bop.
