Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

N16 Vintage are a young fashion company based in North London, supplying menswear and womenswear vintage inspired fast fashion under a number of labels.

We are looking for a part time womenswear model for Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2pm (yet times are negotiable). Fits can last between 30 minutes and 3 hours max, depending on how many styles we have to fit that afternoon. From week to week fit times can vary depending on how many styles we have ready, some weeks we can have one fit, other weeks more.

Our model needs to measure approximately the below measurements for a size 8:
Bust: 33"
Waist: 25 1/2"
Low hip: 35"
Arm length: 22 1/2"
Inside leg: 31 1/4"
SNP to bust: 10 1/4”

Please contact Hannah on 020 8361 1963 to discuss the position.

Thank you

I know I'm not going to get any thanks for this comment but why are you fitting your clothes to a size 8 when only 10% of the UK female population can fit into it. According to Mintel nearly 40% of us are a size 16 or over and the UK average is a size 12.

No worries, that is just the sample size we are requested to fit by our buyers. Our styles do not stop at a size 8, but are graded up from there.

Thank you for replying Hannah. Speaking as one of the 40%, I think your buyers and the fashion industry in general should recognise that no amount of "grading up" from a size 8 is ever going to fit me or women like me! But I fully appreciate that's not something you can do anything about - just needed to get it off my ample chest..

While I may not be quite the fit model you are seeking (inside-leg a bare 29 1/2"), I am so curious as to the meaning of "fit" model you have in mind that I've had recourse to a range of dictionaries:

"a fit, suitable and competent person" ?

"sexually attractive & good looking" ?

"fit in wind and limb" ? (though you seem happy with one whose "fits can last between 30 mins and 3 hrs")

"contributing genetic information to the gene pool of the next generation" ?

"fit to be tied" ? - once your prospective model sees the uncertainty of N16 Vintage hours of work.

A person of a set standard size (to which few of us actually conform) on whom sample clothing can be put in order to be "fitted".... ie. Adjusted to fit

A couple of years ago I saw a 1940s wedding dress for sale in an antique shop. It was displayed on a tailor's dummy and was described as a size 8 but imo quite a bit smaller than today's size 8 (and definitely shorter).

And later I found a pattern size guide in a 1972 copy of Golden Hands -

bust:32.5"  waist: 24"  hips: 34"

That was size 10.
