Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Yesterday, intermittently throughout the whole day, there was a group of squirrels, perhaps 5-6, chasing around like lunatics in my garden.  They were so preoccupied with each other that they had no fear of humans nor of my cat who was quite terrorised by them and retreated indoors.  He's a cat who I've seen chasing foxes.

As they hared about they emitted an odd vocalisation.  I've heard squirrels vocalising before but this was different - something between an avian alarm call and a soft breathy huff.  Every now and then they would disappear and then I would hear them doing the same thing a few gardens away.

I was imagining perhaps it was a nest of adolescent squirrels who had descended into the real world and were beside themselves with glee.

Has anyone encountered this before?

Mad squirrels tea party :) They ars prone to scurrying about quickly but sounds like young squirrels having fun or maybe one of them had a tasty bulb that the others fancied!

It’s the early summer breading season so driven by thoughts of love

... why do you think Tex Avery created "Screwy Squirrel"...
