Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi all,

Perhaps a silly one, but recently moved to Roseberry Gardens and have been trying to locate a manhole cap and can't seem to be able to find it. Does anyone have any idea where I should look? It's not in the alleyway by the kitchen, so is it possible it's somewhere in front of the house? We do have a conservatory, so I am also thinking that it might have been concealed when the structure was put in place, but surely that would have been very unwise. Any suggestions most welcome!

Thanks

L

We're on the Ladder, so it was a different set of Victorian builders, but our house has no manhole access to the foul drains. Any need to rod the drains has to be via a small access hatch on the side of the downpipe from the bathroom upstairs. Compare notes with nearby houses perhaps - it's a good way to get to know your neighbours!

My house is half of a pair and we share one sewer.  The access for both is in  my side return.

Thames Water just did some fancy something in our road as there was no manhole/inspection pit anywhere in the road. Should make it easier if anything goes wrong.

Thanks all for your advice. Given time constraints we decided to go with semiflo and connect to the existing cast iron soil pipe. Neighbors proved to be uninformed at least those I asked, but will continue searching as it's always good to know where the manhole is!

good day to you all.
