I cycled up there this morning. The top is taped off and a young WPC stood guiding people around a patch at the top of the road that was taped off.

I asked if there had been a car accident and the WPC said there had been a crime, and could not tell me more. I saw a small patch of blood on the floor. I asked if there had been a stabbing but she couldn't say...

blimey, all quiet here, havent heard any police sirens going by, so must have been earlier when I was in bed, hopefully nothing serious like the rapes that happened a few years ago

I've been informed that a woman was attacked by the cycle-phone-snatchers who've been working Green Lanes recently.

If there are "cycle-phone-snatchers" on Green Lanes, who will potentially stab/attack someone to get their phone, why is this not in the SNT May bulletin? HOLhere?

Because men sleeping rough are more of a concern obviously! Gosh, get with the program.

Yeah, yeah.

We had a paper copy of the SNT leaflet more than a fortnight ago, about when the current outbreak of phone-snatching was reported, The leaflet's an occasional roundup - see Twitter or HoL for the latest.

Edit: the recent round of phone-snatching made it onto HoL on Wed 18 May - see here, where a same-day post said On Twitter @MPSHarringay reports 12 similar incidents in Haringey over the last 24 hours.  That looks reasonably proactive.

The paper copies are helpful for residents who don't rely on the Internet. So thanks for the equally helpful links, for those who do. I'm an inbetweener.
There was a woman attacked late yesterday, and although Harringay is safe in many regards, we need to be aware of our surroundings. It's easy to get absorbed in communication on our phones, but don't let devices take your attention, & allow individuals keen to sieze an advantage.

Why do things have to escalate before anything is recognised as not being just 'perception of crime,' but a reality.

Drug dealing in the passage seems to be less prevalent, but is still an issue, and attracts activity on our street that Harringay doesn't need.

Phone snatching is a problem in Finsbury Park. Police services have been reduced, selling off St Ann's, the Turnpike Lane office is closed & Community police are now based at Hornsey. Is Wood Green still open?

I've heard a report a couple of weeks ago about a knive being found in a planter on the passage, & I found a crack pipe.
In both cases the police are too busy to collect, (if we take them to Hornsey station they have more time to log items,) but who wants to carry this stuff around, we should insist they are collected, in case they prove helpful to a related crime later on, or crime data, to create a better picture of hostile activity.

I will be paying attention to reports on crime on the individual, at the next LCSP, (Ladder Community Safety Partnership,) meeting, and looking to what response there may be to keep our community safe.

The Non emergency number for the Metropolitan Police is 101, and the Emergency Number is 999.
Has anyone heard any updates on this please? Living at the top of Mattison Road, close to the attack scene, I've been very concerned about this and I'd be keen to know how serious the attack was, and how the woman is doing. Thanks.
