Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Below are the details of the forthcoming Tottenham Hale regen info events happening 11-13th June. Though, they don't give you the full information.

One significant omission from the programme is the meeting arranged by the Tottenham Hale regen team on Wednesday 10th June to discuss the proposals for the Chesnut Estate. This is taking place in Holy Trinity school from 6.30pm. So, please put that in your diaries. Alas, just discussion that night. No green walks, cycle rides, apple pie, free theatre, and sports spinning. But that means you are not distracted from commenting on the regen horror of approx 75 new tower blocks being planned for Tottenham Hale.

No background detail too about the use of 5 Ashley Road. This former Transport for London emergency response unit location is currently leased by the council to Rift theatre company. No idea about the terms of the lease, and whether Rift receive any Chickentown-style financial support. If anybody has no more information than let me know.

The showpiece Saturday 13th June event is now happening at 5 Ashley Road because the council accepted that the regen team's application for a small event licence to erect a marquee in Down Lane Park didn't follow its own rules requiring applicants to give a minimum six week notice period.

Please put one of these events in your diary to come along to support the Friends of Down Lane Park's lobbying for a positive agenda of iimmediately mproving the park as the startpoint of regen in the area. We are pressing for the completion of the park's masterplan, as well as opposing the proposed green road link cutting through the park to use up approx three tennis courts of children's play area. I will send more detail next week.

Thanks.
Martin
