New River Action Day: Wightman to Hampden

Many, many thanks to all the volunteers who turned out last Saturday morning to clean up the towpath along the New River. We had a particularly good turn out in the Harringay section and soon made short work of the litter and kipple that was spoiling the view.

Michael and I would like to say a special thank you to Sarah Hayes at Clean Up UK who did all the leg work getting agreement from Thames Water to let us do it and take the rubbish away, arranged all the equipment and liaised with all the other organisations to get the Action day sorted. We really couldn't have done it without her!

The next steps include having more clean ups, probably in the Autumn, getting water training with Thames 21 to allow us to tackle the harder to reach parts of the New River and Sarah has set up the New River Network on Project Dirt to help all the groups up and down the New River to co-ordinate action and share information.
