Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

It may be old hat to everyone in Harringay except me, but I came across Ciğköftem restaurant when I was tidying up some Harringay Foursquare entries.

Ciğköftem is part of a global Turkish franchise specialising in vegetarian kofte. They do lamb as well, but their big thing is kofte with a couscous based filling which comes in mild and spicy. From my taste test in situ, spicy should satisfy the chilli freaks out there.

The couscous version comes cold. So I've brought mine home and will tuck into it a bit later.

Has anyone else tried this place?

That red paste stuff looks a bit - er - lamby? I would need reassurance before wrapping my chops round that.

No, it's couscous.

I've been a regular since before it opened ;)  They were at the Green Lanes Food Festival in '09, and was very glad to see the store when it opened about six months later. Definitely vege (although their advertising could do with some clarification on this score, as it makes various comparisons to the meat it resembles, including steak tartar) and definitely delicious. The spicy version is a bit too spicy for me though (and I am quite a fan of spicy food).
