Parking permits prices in our borough - your opinion

I've been contacted by one of the producers of Eddie Nestor's bbc radio talk show. They're discussing the increase in the costs of parking permits in the borough. If you want a private parking space in the underground carpark at Woodberry Down (Hackney) it is £65 a month.

£1 a week to keep a parking place free in my road seems like a bargain, given that I live one minute's walk from the tube.

Given you'd pay about £50 a week to rent that kind of square footage as property, £1 a week is pretty good value. I can't think of many other situations where you get to keep private property on public land so cheaply.
