Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The platform is currently experiencing some problems and this is affecting events listings. This means that people are getting an "apologies" message implying that their listing was not successful. However, it probably was and as people try two or three times, it means that an event is being listed more than once.

If you get the apologies message, it might be best to not try again as chances are your listing is already there but play it safe by also doing a post in the main forum in the events category.

This is a known problem and the platform, NING, has been made aware.

At present we'll just have to work round it until they fix it.

Also apologies if you are looking at the listings and seeing multiple postings of the same event. For this reason, the front page is displaying featured events and you will need to click on view all to see everything that is going on a given day.

If you follow us on Twitter, you may see several tweets for the same event. Again apologies for clogging up your feed but it is an automated feed and goes out the same time as the event is submitted.

Hi Liz, I set up two new events last week and got the error msg! They've finally now shown up but the two I entered yesterday still haven't. Just a bit concerned they aren't in the system at all if there are known issues...is there any way of checking rather than me being guilty of entering events more than once? Christianna Marion Mitchell art exhibition and Andrew Palmer art exhibition at Ply Gallery are the missing two events I cannot see.....

The glitch seems to also mean the person who posts can't see the events themselves - at least not straight away.
Andrew Palmer posted here http://www.harringayonline.com/events/andrew-palmer-paintings ( incidentally he also posted himself and did a main forum post)
Mitchell post is here: http://www.harringayonline.com/events/citymirage-paintings-by-chris...

Thanks so much for your swift response Liz, reassuring I didn't totally imagine posting these ha! Should I be posting events on the main forum also? Not sure I understand the advantages between the forum and events page? Many thanks for all your advice...

You could do a general post about your gallery telling people what is coming up, where it is etc. I would suggest one post about all forthcoming events. Giving them a heads up, as it were, before the dates. The forum is faster moving but it's also where most people look first when they come on the site. We do a weekly round up of everything new added to the site in a week. A forum post would come higher on the email than the coming up events.

This problem may have been resolved (but I'll leave this thread "sticky" for a day or two just in case it breaks again.
