He gave me an estimate and we fixed the day.  Never seen him again.  I am fearing the worst

Same here, he did do some quality work when he turned up, however he failed to turn up another day for another job. He didn't phone to let us know he wouldn't come. Day wasted.

Neil Protheroe (plumber.neil@virginmedia.com) also helped me with gas certification.  He responded quickly to email messages, and attended promptly. Very friendly and helpful. I would recommend him too.

I would echo this post - he redirected a pipe and swapped out an old tap for us.  We are very happy with the results, he did the job when expected and the price was reasonable.  We would recommend him very highly
