Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I posted earlier last week about activities for rainy days, but I'm also wondering if anyone has any recommendations for what I could do for my 4 year old girl in terms of child care? I mostly want something for her so she can play with other kids around her age and only very part time during the week. I looked into Little Treasures but they have no spaces available.  I'm new to London (from NZ) so not sure of the system here.  Back home she was in day care four short days a week, and I think she's really missing the social interaction with other kids.

Take her to the big green book shop reading morning and make friends there, it's in Wood Green.

If you're not here permanently, you might find it hard to get into a council-run preschool, but there are plenty of private ones around.  I don't know where you're based, but there are 3 or 4 nurseries on Green Lanes (Little Jewels on Cavendish, Eagle and Orange on Green Lanes and Busy Bunnies on Wightman Road.  My son's at Eagle and he really likes it.  There are loads of nurseries in Crouch End.  You can search for them on the Haringey council website, as they all have to be registered with the council.

I can thoroughly recommend Little Jewels. They do half and full days if there are spaces. Don't be put off by the slightly shabby looking hall. The staff are wonderful. They do a great range of activities and they have such a lovely inclusive ethos. If you want proof of how great the place is you should visit at lunchtime and see how calm and beautifully behaved the children are.
