Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi there!

My partner and I are looking to move to your lovely area! We have looked at a house we love, but are concerned that there is a low, throttling hum sound coming from the silver extraction / exhaust chimney from a nearby restaurant on Green lanes.

We have spoken to the lovely owner who said it is a new problem and hopefully can be resolved. It seems something is in need of repair.

I was wondering if anyone has had a similar issue? If it was resolved? or if you live with a similar noise?

thanks so much! Jessie

Hello

We have the exact same problem! The end of our garden backs onto the rear elevation of a restaurant. It started 15 years ago when the restaurant first opened and since then the restaurant has become 3/4 shops meaning each time an upgraded extraction system is installed.

The noise at times can be really frustrating. Its not constant and gets louder at peak times sometimes remaining on 24/7.

When the windows are closed you cannot actually hear anything however it is as soon as you go into the garden or open a window the problem starts.

Some residents complained to the council who monitored the situation and made the restaurant run the extraction up and over the flat roof of the building however since then more fans have been added.

oh wow thanks for this Peter. sounds like a real problem. :(

Sorry - dident mean to panic you... just talking from my experience. If the restaurant does not back onto your garden and its nearby as you say perhaps the extraction may just need repairing or servicing.
