Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Anyone out done the cycle ride on the River Lee before? I have done it from Broxbourne, but how far up can you start the ride? I know we can start from as far up as Ware, but anyone started any further up?

I have a  friend coming to town and want to take him there (weather permitting).

Ah, that is the one. I can get the train direct yes? Do not have to go into town or anything... Cool

There's actually a nice nonriver path from Hertford to Welwyn GC - you have to go round the back of Hertford football ground to get onto it from Hertford (only ever been out, not cycled back), but it links up to the river route.
When the weather is warm we cycle from Harringay, through the back streets through St Ann's, to Tottenham Hale and get on the canal there and head as far as Broxbourne where there is a good pub right on the canal (I can't remember the name but I will have a think). After a refreshment we head back home. We can do it in about 4 ish hours door to door. It's a lovely ride.

Going in the other direction from Tottenham Hale takes you down to the Olympic Stadium and park, that's a great ride too.

Thanks Karen. I know the local stretch really well (I used to live in Clapton). I was hoping to do top to bottom with a mate from out of town. The furthest I had been into deepest darkest Hertfordshire was Broxbourne...

If you remember the pub name let me know.

I googled it, it's the THE CROWN Old Nazeing Road, Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, EN10 6QT.

Funny, we lived in Clapton too, we moved to Harringay in 1996. From Clapton we usually cycled the tow path through Hackney to Regents Park and Camden but never got further than that.
I've cycled up to Ware many times but it's nicest this time of year. I love the bit that goes through the nature reserves where you have water either side of the path. The ride up to Dobbs Weir is quite nice if you don't fancy going the whole way to Ware. The pub there has vastly improved in the past year or so and you can also camp opposite, although probably a bit nippy this time of year.

I've done this regularly from Tottenham hale to Hertford east and back. Apart from a bit of path for about a mile past Broxbourne with is a bit too potholey it's a good surface all the way. Regular pubs on the Broxbourne to Hertford stretch.

You can apparently start at Luton, and go down to the Thames. It's around 50miles, and this thread tells you more: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/245860/
