Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

CABE last month released a short report called Ordinary Places. Its premise is that while city centres have improved over the past ten years, the ordinary places - the parts of town where people actually live - have been relatively neglected.

Get past the patronising guff about enabling the common man to participate in the debate by teaching visual literacy and it's useful report. If nothing else, it opens up the right debate at the right time.

I suspect Anne, that while there'll be a lot of HoL members like yourself for whom this report may be fairly obvious, for many others, at least some of the ideas will be new and interesting. I've certainly found things which make me take stock and think again.

One of the values of CABE is that they try to take these issues and debates out from the professional realm and into a wider public discussion. On the whole they try to use plain language and give practical examples. The status of CABE itself lends authority to views which might be dismissed if 'ordinary' residents put them forward.
