Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Just heard that it appears that a local Labour CLP has cancelled their all member nomination meeting to be replaced by a GC delegate meeting. This seems like yet another attempt to deny democracy in the Labour Party. Anyone got accurate info on this? I'm away at the moment to can't chase it up.

An instruction from the Labour Party's London Region.

Philip, it's the whole Tottenham CLP (which includes St Anne's and all the other wards this side of the borough). I got a pretty late email cancelling the membership meeting that was originally planned

Thanks Michael.
A few members of the Tottenham Executive Committee stood outside the venue to explain and apologise to any Party members who hadn't read the email or who don't have email.
For any non-Party members reading this who may be puzzled, perhaps I should explain that while the meeting may have given people an opportunity to discuss the two Leadership candidates, the actual ballot is still one-member-one-vote, with postal or online voting.

Come on people.. do you really need a Berliner to tell you that it's St Ann's and not Anne's ..??

Sorry! As I walk past the street sign most days I should know better.

I was also of the opinion that because St Ann's church is CofE, the spelling Ann is correct. Anne with an E is the catholic spelling of the same ..

but after gurgling, I read this http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/45/142537.page

;-)

The very much an Anglican Queen Anne.
also known as Brandy Nan. She has her own gate and street.
As well as England she also laid claim to Ireland, France and North America.
Her statues in London seem popular with cyclists.
Queen Anne - still popular with cyclists

I knew this point would come up.

Queen Anne wasn't responsible for her own name. Her Father was and he was the last RC Monarch until today.

I've just had a email about this. The member meeting was due to be held on a Saturday. A member complained that because of their religious beliefs they would be unable to attend so another venue with the potential to hold a large turnout had to be found on a weekday evening at short notice. This wasn't possible in time so a much smaller meeting (in a much smaller venue) of the general committee on a weekday evening is being held instead.

Delighted to see the Labour Party being taken over by Seventh Day Adventists.

Further investigation seems to indicate that H&WG may be attempting a stitch up and only allowing last year's GC members to nominate.....Corbyn still a country mile ahead as long term members are so angry at being denied democracy....

If you're a Labour Party member Philip Foxe, you should have been receiving regular emails with detailed explanations about the various problems.
