Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

But it's not not, it''s featured in the 1989 Die Hard movie with Bruce Willis.

... And the original was a better design.

Come on Evening standard, run with that !

The bridge was a stolen idea ( subconscious or not) and not even decided on fair open competition and is already dated, clunky and uninspiring.

A bridge with a garden on top is a fun idea in my opinion but let's give it to a designer that can at least make the new one as good or better than the original.

Here's the already dated current design ....

What do you think ? Got a point ?

Eh? Surely everyone knows it's the High Line.
Don't forget the Promenade Plantee in Paris, an absolute delight away from the summer heat of the city streets below
Coulee verte rene-dumont
Agreed - a fantastic place. You can escape the madness and noise of Place de la Bastille and the arches underneath have a mix of interesting shops, cafes and workshops.
Plantee opened five years after Die Hard
My main beef about the plan is the removal of public space from Bernie Spain Gardens on the south bank and the fact that the bridge will be private property - there will be no public right of way and the plans are to close it each day between midnight and 6am. Less of a bridge really than a horizontal London Eye. And, really stupid in my opinion, there is to provision to cycle over it - you have to dismount and push.
High line was made ten years after Bruce Willis mysteriously changed the colour of his vest in Die Hard with no shoes.

Drink! (sorry, I may still be stuck on the Die Hard game we played at Christmas...)

We played it as well, the Canadians love it.
