Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Tipper lorry down Ladder road - against the one-way direction

Look out !!  I've just seen a tipper lorry go down Umfreville Rd at speed (not walking pace, not reversing).

I only saw the tail of it, couldn't spot a livery or catch the numberplate.  I'm alert to cycles and mopeds contravening the no-entry and one-way signs as it's the last physical access from Wightman Rd to Green Lanes before Endymion Rd, but this was seriously scary.

I don't mind bicycles doing it - in Hackney this is permitted and signposted.

Some people who live on this road also drive down the wrong way when they're in a hurry...

Yes I mentioned bikes and mopeds because it's commonplace and usually low-speed and low-risk - the speed of this lorry was way too high to stop if a person stepped out in front of them, or a car pulled out of a parking space.

But fast enough to stop you catching his number plate! Bah ha ha ha ha.

What are you on about John M?

I was in the back room when I heard a loud thump/rattle sound from up the hill, the opposite direction from normal when a lorry goes up the road quickly, so I went to the room overlooking the road to find out more: by the time I got to the window the lorry had gone past the house - in the wrong, illegal, dangerous direction - and I only just caught sight of it. Next time, and I hope there isn't, should I be bothered about people's safety - I wonder from that reaction.

I too am on Umfreville and couldn't believe the speed and noise as it went past - whole house shook as it went over the speed hump. Like you I couldn't get a proper look in time.

I also wonder what John M is on...
