I WAS pleased to attend the celebrations in Tottenham earlier today on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the Council pledge to regenerate the Holcombe Market (just off Tottenham High Road).
The anniversary celebrations were scheduled to go ahead whether or not work commenced. By some lucky coincidence—and four years to the day after the original promise—some work did start. For that, Tottenham must thank local community campaigner Mr. Martin Ball.
A short trench alongside Bet Fred has been dug and a small crowd witnessed a piece of hired equipment being unloaded from a trailer in the High Road.
I was the only Councillor present at the celebrations and the commencement of works that are expected to last 27 weeks. There are photographs of the happy occasion on Mr. Ball's Twitter feed:
