Luke Howard, the 'Namer of Clouds', is commemorated with the only English Heritage Blue Plaque in Tottenham.

Known as the “father of meteorology” Howard provided the first successful classification of clouds – previously thought too changeable to be brought into a scientific system.

Howard also made a remarkable collection of cloud paintings, now held at the Science Museum. His works are thought to have been very influential on painters at eh time and much time has been expended on understanding how painters like Constable owe a the success of their work to Howard.

Read more about Howard on the Science museum website and on Wikipedia.

On 31st May, join local group Tottenham Clouds for a tour of the places connected with Luke Howard and his contemporaries.

Thanks for that Hugh. My wife Lynda, founder of Tottenham Theatre is planning a portmanteau piece for next year and is hoping to draw in many aspects of Tottenham including Mr Cumulo-Nimbo-Strat-Cirrus himself!
I heard that the building on Bruce Grove is under threat of being demolished. There's a campaign somewhere on the interweb to save the building and the blue plaque.

Found it: https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/save-7-bruce-grove-tottenham

I hope the professional arsonists don't get to it first.

That's the one, already signed. Hope HOLERS do too. :)
