Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Nick Auvache, Karen Tate and I are standing as Trade Union and Socialist Coalition (TUSC) candidates in Seven Sisters in the local elections. We have decided to stand in Seven Sisters because the three Labour candidates all support the Haringey Development Vehicle (HDV), a massive regeneration project in Tottenham which will see huge swathes of council property handed over to a private developer, and all stand for Claire Kober’s discredited policies of passing Tory government cuts onto Haringey residents.
The borough has a funding shortfall of over £30 million over the next five years. As with all TUSC candidates, we have pledged to stand on a no-cuts platform: if elected, we will oppose all cuts to council jobs and services. We think the council should, in the short term, rely on its reserves to fill the shortfall. They should build a mass campaign amongst community groups and council trade unions for more money for the borough. They should link with other councils around the country to campaign for full funding of local services and reverse the cuts of the last decade. If elected, TUSC supporters will campaign for the introduction of rent controls on privately rented properties. We want to see a mass building programme of council homes to build the capacity of genuinely affordable homes for local people.
Nick Auvache has campaigned against cuts in jobs and service. He was a TUSC candidate in the council elections in 2014 for Crouch End. Karen Tate been a local school governor for 6 years. She has campaigned against cuts in local education services, particularly the closure of childrens' centres and services affecting children with special educational needs. I stood as a TUSC candidate in the 2014 local elections in Harringay. I have taught in local secondary schools for 15 years during which time I have campaigned against academisation and cuts in local jobs and services.
Vote for TUSC to put Jeremy Corbyn’s anti-austerity policies into action.
