Just to let you know that the parking has been suspended at the Tottenham Leisure Centre until 19th August to allow volunteers and people to drop off donations without incurring parking charges. The centre is open for advice and donations to help those affected by last weekend's riots.

Update on the High Road and Bus Info

Originally posted by David Schmitz on August 11, 2011 at 12:50pm

Tottenham High Road is now open from Monument Way to Bruce Grove.

A revised memo on bus diversions is attached to this posting. Essentially, the service is now as it is on Spurs match days.

Post Offices Ltd. are in discussion with the Council and other organisations with a view to finding replacement premises for the Bruce Grove Post Office. There is now widespread awareness amongst both the Council and the Ministry as to the difficulties which OAPs are having in cashing their pensions, and council officers in the regeneration and adult social care departments are working on the problem.
I am attaching a copy of POL's press release

Tottenham Jobcentreplus Office, next to what was Carpetright. Staff have heard

- that the heat so bad from Carpetright that floors have buckled

- the boiler on the top floor over heated (possibly exploded) and fell throught to ground floor

- Unlikely it will ever be able to be occupied again

- that the boiler exploded in the heat and has fallen through into the 3rd floor and that all the floors have bowed in the heat.

- Someone who knows someone in council are saying it will have to be pulled down

Must stress this is NOT officially issued news just what some staff are hearing

staff still redeployed into other nearby JCP offices in North and East London.

Just to let those concerned know that i have had a reply from Ann White at MHT (Metropolitan Housing Trust) about the residents of River Heights above Carpetright.

Dear Lesley- thank you very much for your email. Sorry I did not get back to you sooner but I am sure you will appreciate just how busy it has been. Thank you for your kind comments and offer. Haringey Council have already contacted the Job centre and I understand that they are providing support at the centre set up by Haringey at Tottenham Leisure centre. I met with the residents yesterday and they are very appreciative of all the help they have received from people.

I am advised that 2 Jobcentreplus staff have been posted at the leisure centre since Tuesday.
