Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The Council has said that cameras have been installed a either end of Wightman to control use of the road by HGVs. Out of interest has anyone spotted where they are?

At the south end, there's a new camera on the lamp post nearest Wightman Rd junction with Lothair Road South.

Weight limit signs at the start of Wightman Rd are in place.

Advance warning signs on Endymion Road at the approach to the mini-roundabout are in place and facing oncoming traffic (one was previously rotated so it was side-on and not visible).

As for the north end, that was the initial installation, a few years ago?

Good spot, Gordon. You seem to have your finger on many local pulses!

The other shoe.....

Had reason to go past the northern camera site today (corner of Sydney Rd). There used to be a standard pattern ANPR camera, as at Lothair Rd and Hewitt Rd/Green Lanes, and visible on Google Streetview. No longer.

Something much smaller is now mounted on the lamp post, but if it's a camera (and it does have a round boss on a black box) it has no visible wiring and it's oriented somewhat off-axis for oncoming traffic. No camera on me, but the light was dismal anyway.

Watched a couple of council/veolia/onetime HGVs saunter down Frobisher Rd for no good reason this evening. If they can't even get this right themselves then just what the feck can be done? Closing the road to stop the abuse seems to be the only viable solution.
